How It Operates

When linked to your HVAC system, the Aprilaire 500 and 500M Bypass Whole House Humidifiers add moisture to your home’s air through a natural evaporation method. When the humidifier controller indicates a need for additional humidity, water flows from the connected water line into a distribution tray. The water then moves over Aprilaire’s patented Water Panel evaporator, where moisture from the distribution tray evaporates into the incoming dry air. The humidified air is subsequently circulated throughout your home via your HVAC system’s return duct with assistance from the blower.

To maintain an appropriate humidity level, using a whole house humidifier like the Aprilaire 600/600M is an excellent choice. This in-duct bypass humidifier integrates with your current heating and cooling system to deliver comfortably humidified air throughout your entire home. As an evaporative humidifier, these models can evenly distribute up to 17 gallons of moisture daily. This capacity is sufficient to humidify tightly sealed homes up to 4,000 square feet, average sealed homes up to 2,000 square feet, and loosely sealed homes up to 1,500 square feet.
